Outdoor sessions
Weather is unpredictable. Have a coat or sweater available for cool weather sessions. Touch-up make-up and hair spray or some other holding product may be necessary if we have a windy day. Consider a snack before your session so you aren’t low on energy. Most importantly, bring your fun, playful side. Engagement sessions with Resolusean photography are enjoyable. We will do whatever sparks our collective creative minds so there is always an element of adventure in each engagement session. That being said, if you tell me you want to do your engagement photos at the county fair or that your favorite movie is Conan the Barbarian, don’t be surprised when you see the photos 🙂
How to Prepare for Your Engagement Session – What to wear
Like all portrait sessions, avoid fluorescent colors!
Maybe don’t wear matching outfits (unless you dress alike on other days). A good option is to choose colors that are in a similar color family, i.e. both dressed in blues or both in earth tones. Avoid busy patterns or big logos. Bring several outfits to choose from, if in doubt. Dress in clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in.
We will be walking. If you are wearing sexy but hard-to-walk-in shoes, bring a pair that is comfortable for when we are moving. Choose outfits appropriate for the location. If we have scheduled a beach or lake session, bring a change of clothes, towel and water, as you will likely get sandy and possibly wet.
Be ready, there will be some kissing (not by me but you will have to show some affection for each other). For those not in to PDA (public displays of affection), just a reminder that your friends and family are going to expect to to kiss at the wedding ceremony so it’s good practice.
If you are trying to slim down for the wedding, here is some additional info. Although I will be posing, lighting and sometimes editing you to look your best, there are some things you should know to give you the best results. Ladies, be cautious of specific cuts of clothing. Few girls can pull off the look of the empire waist. In most cases, it will look like you are expecting so unless you know that you rock that look, you may want to go a different direction.
The color white adds 10-20 pounds whereas black is slimming. A sleeveless top may not be your friend, if your arms are not toned. Trim hair, wherever it grows (ears and nose are often overlooked and you will see it in photos.) Pay attention to your fingernails. Unless you have been spending some time in the gym or have interesting tattoos, avoid sleeveless shirts. If you’re skinny and want to look bigger, wear light colors.
