Before the wedding
For sessions scheduled before the wedding, this is a great time to test out your hair and makeup. Schedule those trials for earlier in the day, giving yourself plenty of time in case you need to make adjustments to style or color. Outdoor bridal sessions are typically scheduled an hour or two before sunset. Studio sessions can be scheduled any time. Bridal portrait sessions should be scheduled two to four weeks before the wedding, in case the dress needs to be cleaned after the session. If you are choosing an outdoor session, the dress is more likely to need cleaning.
After the wedding
The best way to avoid the stress associated with getting the dress dirty is to schedule your session after the wedding. Bridal sessions after the wedding are sometimes called "trash the dress" sessions because the need to keep the wedding dress pristine isn't a concern. Photo sessions scheduled after the wedding have the added benefit of being able to include the groom. Bridal sessions may be added to any wedding package by selecting more time. For example, selecting a seven hours coverage, using six hours for the wedding and one hour for a bridal session. This is a popular option for couples that have a destination wedding but still want some local wedding photos.
